With a goal of making as many of the state’s parks and historic sites available to as many people as possible, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is adding to the number places where all-terrain wheelchairs are available.
The list now includes Don Carer State Park in Gainesville, Ft. Yargo State Park in Winder, and Smithgall Woods State Park in Helen. DNR has partnered with the Aimee Copeland Foundation to provide these free, high-mobility all-terrain wheelchairs at ten state parks, historic sites and a wildlife center across the state.
Aimee Copeland is a woman who lost her limbs in a zip-lining accident. She is a psychotherapist, yoga instructor, speaker, and founder of Aimee Copeland Foundation.
“All-Terrain Georgia is the pride and joy of Aimee Copeland Foundation,” said Copeland. “It’s been a long time coming and we’re honored to offer this life-changing program to the community.”
