Would-be developers have reportedly secured financing for a three-billion-dollar business and entertainment complex in Forsyth County they hope will bring major league hockey back to metro Atlanta.
An internal neighborhood email says The Gathering at South Forsyth has submitted its final financing packet to the National Hockey League (NHL) for review and secured backing from two major capital partners.
The project includes an 18,000-seat arena, though developer Krause Sports and Entertainment would not confirm either.
Meanwhile, a competing proposal to redevelop North Point Mall in Alpharetta into a hockey venue recently cleared a zoning hurdle. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly says, however, neither would-be site is “not even remotely close to an application phase” as the league considers other locations.
