The good and the bad of the latest outlook for Georgia’s poultry industry

Some mixed news for Georgia’s poultry producers as federal forecasters release new numbers.

Mark Jekanowski with the World Agricultural Outlook Board says the latest forecast reflects expectations for broilers.

“We increased our 2026 chicken broiler price forecast by a tenth of a cent per pound,” he says. “Georgia farmers in the nation’s top poultry-producing state will still see…year of year broiler prices up about 1.7 cents per pound.”

But still, as of right now, expect prices to be down year over year by about 30-and-a-half cents per pound.

Feed costs and consumer demand will remain important factors to watch, he says, heading into 2027.
