Suit seeks to stop vote a new town; Extra security at one school; New homes planned in west Gville

*A Dacula man has filed suit seeking to halt a May 21 referendum on creation of a new city in Gwinnett County which would be near the Hall County line. The suit was filed Friday just three days before early voting began for that question and the Georgia’s General Election primaries.

*Extra security will be on hand at Bramlett Elementary School in Barrow County the rest of the school year following recent online threats. The threats appear linked to a video shown to a class of fourth graders which some parents deemed inappropriate for children of that age because, they say, it promotes LGBTQ inclusivity and acceptance.

*The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board (GPAB) will hear plans May 14 for the addition of new townhomes in the Mundy Mill Subdivision. They would be located on a 30-acre tract inside the mammoth subdivision. The acreage is located on the southeast side of the intersection of Millside Parkway and Continental Drive and west of the intersection of Old Oakwood Road and Mountain View Road, according to the agenda for the meeting. Clayton Properties Group, Inc – Matt Stokes wants to amend that portion of the existing Planned Unit Development (P-U-D) zoning.
