Storm risk increasing today

Scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening will bring the risk for damaging wind gusts as well as frequent lightning and heavy rainfall in our area and other parts of north Georgia.

The weather service says, “A Slight Risk (2 of 5) for severe weather covers portions of north Georgia alongside a Marginal Risk for the remainder of north Georgia.” (See map.)

Temperatures will remain in the upper 80s to mid-90s across the northern part of the state for at least the next five days, with heat indices in the upper 90s to low 100s.
