Storm damaged road to close for about 10 days

Due to a stormwater pipe repair project, Elizabeth Lane in Flowery Branch will close to thru traffic beginning at 7:00 a.m. Sept. 19 and is not expected to reopen until about ten days later.

That’s the road where a culvert was washed out by those torrential one-day rains back in July. The section of road that will be closed is between Squirrel Nest Court and Mulberry Preserve Drive.

According to a county spokeswoman, the closure is necessary to allow crews to safely repair the stormwater pipe along Elizabeth Lane and provide enough space to complete the work safely and efficiently.

“During the closure, motorists will not be able to travel through the work area,” Natalae La Douceur said. “Detour options will be available via Spout Springs Road, Cash Road, Union Circle, and Union Church Road. Drivers are encouraged to consult the Elizabeth Lane detour map before traveling through the area and select the route that best accommodates their destination.”
