Governor Brian Kemp says the state Department of Revenue (DOR) will begin distributing funds to local governments as part of the 2026 Homeowner Tax Relief Grant program this week.
The one-time program provides eligible Georgia homeowners with an $18,000 reduction in the assessed value of their homesteads for the 2026 tax year. This relief is applied directly to homeowners’ property tax bills, reducing the amount they owe.
Some homeowners may already see the savings on bills that have been issued, while others will see the relief as local governments continue issuing tax bills.
