The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reporting an extremely quiet holiday weekend so far on Georgia’s lakes and other waterways despite the oppressive heat that has sent thousands looking for a way to cool off.
In its Sunday report, which was issued at 8:30 a.m., only two BUIs had been reported statewide. One on Lake Lanier and one in south Georgia. And nowhere in the state had any accidents – swimming, boating, etc. – been reported.
On the roads and highways, as of 6:00 a.m., one fatality, 29 injuries and 216 DUI arrests were being reported statewide by the state patrol. The fatality occurred in Fulton County.
