Stamp cost increase; $7K Gville porch piracy, burglary

*It’s about to cost more to send letters in the mail. Georgia News Network reports that come Sunday, the Postal Service will increase the cost of a First-Class Forever U.S. Stamp from the current 66 cents to 68 cents. The postal service says these increases will help provide much-needed revenue.  

*A Lilac Creek Trail resident recently reported a $3,000 loss at the hands of a “porch pirate.” The victim told Gainesville Police a delivery package left on her porch between 11:30 and 1:30 the morning of Jan. 13 had been ripped open and two iPhones were taken. Police area also investigating a burglary at a business on Hilton Drive between Jan. 11 and Jan. 12. The loss was put at $4,000.
