Spirit to continue Atlanta operations

(FROM GEORGIA NEWS NETWORK)

Spirit Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection but says it will still operate out of the Atlanta airport.

The airline made the filing after failing to release its quarterly financial results last week.

The company says it plans to restructure but will continue operating without interruption, adding, customers can still book and fly like normal, and can use credits and loyalty points as well.

Spirit is one of the smallest carriers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport with only two percent of total volume at the airport.
