A spokesman for Hall County Schools says it was some social media posts that led to the cancellation of Friday night’s East Hall High School basketball game with Banks County High and a rematch next month.
“Out of an abundance of caution and due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to announce the cancellation of tonight’s basketball game against Banks County, as well as the game scheduled for December 6 against Banks County,” a Friday posting on the East Hall Facebook page reads.
Contacted Saturday about the reason for the cancellations, school district spokesman Stan Lewis, without elaborating, said “There were some inappropriate social media posts that elevated emotions. Both schools, out of an abundance of caution, felt it was best to cancel.”
