For ten years, Brian Pietro served as a site captain at Gwinnett Park for the Lake Lanier Association’s (LLA) annual Shore Sweep, but he will be missing this year, having passed away in May. However, there’ll still be reminders of him when volunteers take to the shoreline and the water next Saturday.
“In memory of Brian, a tribute to his legacy will appear on the sleeve of all 1,200+ Shore Sweep 2026 T-shirts,” according to a LLA social media posting. “As we gather for a day of service, we are honored to remember and celebrate his dedication to protecting the lake he cared so deeply about.”
In response, his daughter, Christina Rice, wrote, in part “My dad cared so deeply about this association and the annual Shore Sweep event! He wouldn’t miss it for anything! Lake Lanier has always been his happy place! Thank you so so much for this beautiful tribute! It means so much to our family!”
