State Sen. Shelly Echols (R-Hall County) said Friday she will not run for re-election this year. At the same time, her husband, Drew, said he will seek her post.
Rep. Echols, who gave up her county commission seat to run for state Senate two years ago, said she is opting out this year in order to spend more time with their son who has Dow’s Syndrome.
Drew Echols is involved in operating the longtime family business, Jaemor Farms.
He will be opposed in the Republican Primary May 21 by Josh Clark of Flowery Branch.
