Severe weather risk

All of Georgia except for a small strip of counties mostly along or near the coast are in the bullseye for possible severe weather for the next few days.

“The remnants of a tropical disturbance will approach the region on Thursday, bringing a risk for a few strong to severe wind gusts along with a low tornado risk,” the weather service said in a Wednesday morning advisory.

In addition, a Flood Watch remains in effect for an area east of a Rome-Newnan-Columbus line which extends as far east as a Dublin-Athens-Gainesville line. (See accompanying map which also includes detailed information on expected rainfall.) The Flood Watch is posted for 8:00 Thursday morning through 2:00 Saturday morning.
