Serious 365 accident; Forsyth Co. burglary suspect; Hall ‘Dinner & Learn’

*A Mt. Airy woman was seriously injured in a wreck on Georgia 365 at the Demorest/Mt. Airy Road intersection Wednesday night. The state patrol said late Thursday the crash happened when Betriz Ruiz’s car ran out of gas, stopped and was struck in the rear by another vehicle. Ruiz, 33, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

*A New York man is in the Forsyth County Jail after being arrested on burglary charges by sheriff’s deputies responding to a “burglary in progress” call on Overlook Club Drive. They reported that they found evidence that the house had been broken into and officers immediately converged on the area and with the help of a K9 unit and drones from Johns Creek Police located Rodrigo Marroquin Aguilar, 35, and arrested him.

*Hall County Animal Services will host a “Dinner and Learn” event for interested citizens to hear updates on Hall County Animal Shelter operations. It is scheduled for Jan. 16 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the North Hall Community Center. There will be a brief presentation from shelter staff, followed by a question-and-answer session.
