The send-off ceremony Saturday for a group of Georgia National Guard troops from Gainesville is still in the works but some changes in the original plans have been made because of the threat of rain.
Instead of assembling at their armory of Alta Vista Road and marching to Roosevelt Square for the ceremony, members of Company C, 121st Infantry Regiment, will now gather at Gainesville High School and the ceremony will be held in the gym noon.
The troops have been called to active duty and will be deployed for one year. A spokesman for the National Guard in Atlanta on Friday would not say where they’ll be stationed or how many members of the unit are being deployed.
