HALL CO. SHERIFF’S NARRATIVE:
“The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) is investigating a weekend hit-and-run crash that injured a scooter rider on U.S. 129/Athens Highway.
Patrol deputies and AIU responded to the collision at approximately 11:15 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at the intersection of Athens Highway and Bob Bryant Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, Renaldo Jenard Sneed, 31, of Gainesville, was riding north on Athens Highway on a 2007 Honda FSC600 maxi-scooter, a large, highway-capable scooter. An unknown driver was traveling south on Athens Highway in a pickup truck pulling a trailer. The pickup truck driver failed to yield the right of way while turning left onto Bob Bryant Road, causing a collision between the scooter and the truck and trailer. Sneed was thrown from the scooter during the impact, and the truck driver left the scene.
Hall County Fire Rescue responded and transported Sneed, who was wearing a helmet, to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
AIU is working to identify the other driver in the ongoing investigation. The suspect vehicle is described only as black dual rear-wheel pickup truck (dually) pulling a gooseneck trailer. Anyone with information on the vehicle, its driver or their whereabouts can provide it at (470) 768-2067.”
