The state Supreme Court (SCOGA) has rejected an appeal of his conviction by Deandre Dryden, who is serving life without parole, for the 2023 murder of a Gainesville woman.
Dryden was convicted of killing Latasha Smith whose body was found on the grounds of Lanier Pointe Apartments on Spring Road.
Dryden’s appeal contended that his Sixth Amendment Confrontation rights were violated by the admission of the 911 call because the caller did not testify at his trial. But the high court rejected his argument in a 4-0 decision with one justice not participating in the deliberations.
