*Rising healthcare cost is crippling some Georgia school systems. State data shows the cost of healthcare per employee is over 10 times what it used to be. Baldwin County Schools reports employee benefits are about 33% of its $56 million budget. Part of the problem is no state money for non-certified workers like bus drivers.
*Atlanta-based Delta Airlines reports a firework hit a Delta jet landing in Chicago. Delta says the flight from Atlanta was landing at Chicago’s Midway Airport about 8:30 Saturday night in the airline’s second in-flight incident in as many days. The airport is surrounded by residential areas. The pilot says the plane was only 200 feet above the ground at the time. Nobody was hurt and Delta is checking the plane for problems. Friday, an Atlanta-bound flight made an unscheduled landing in Indiana after it was apparently hit by lightning.
