*Poplar Springs Road between Gilleland Extension and Hope Road/ Amberleigh Subdivision was shut down earlier this evening due to an accident. Power lines were blocking the roadway, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, which was helping with traffic control. In addition, a detour was in place on Gilleland Circle until the downed lines are secured. The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation and details were not immediately.
*No one was injured early today when the Amtrak Crescent struck a car at a crossing in Buford. Gwinnett County Police said the vehicle had been partially pushed off the track by its owner after it stalled. It was at least the third crossing accident in Buford this year involving the Crescent.
