A retired veteran lawman whose career included stints with the Gainesville Police Department (GPD), Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Brenau University and Lanier Tech will be buried Thursday.
Harry Chapman, 77, died New Year’s Day.
Chapman was with GPD for 23 years before retiring in 1996. After that, he taught at Brenau University, where he had earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree, as well as at Lanier Tech, where he became the Criminal Justice Program Director. In addition, he served as a HCSO Captain overseeing the department’s Reserve Unit.
