Retired, longtime Hall Co. educator dies

A memorial service will be held Dec. 9 for Mike Greavu, a retired longtime Hall County teacher, coach, and school administrator, who died over the weekend at the age of 76.

Greavu’s tenure with the county school system began at East Hall High School, where he was a teacher, coach, and assistant principal. After eight years, the Detroit, Mich., native became the principal at Oakwood Elementary School, where he served for 11 years. Following his time at Oakwood, Greavu moved to North Hall Middle School when it opened in 1989. He served as the principal there for 10 years, ending his career at Myers Elementary School in 2003.

Shortly after retirement, he helped to open and worked in a community thrift store in White County.
