Volunteers will fan out across Lake Lanier next month for the annual Shore Sweep cleanup, now in its 38th year and organized by the Lake Lanier Association.
The event is scheduled for September 19, 8:00-1:00, with 15 cleanup locations around the lake and seven additional advanced sites available. Last year, more than 1,200 volunteers collected 128 tons of debris from the lake and its shoreline.
Participants may register as land‑based volunteers, who collect trash in parks and along the shoreline, or as boat‑based volunteers using private vessels to pull debris from the water. All trash must be returned to designated Shore Sweep sites for disposal and boats of all sizes are needed.
