Railroad work planned in Flowery Branch

Norfolk Southern plans on conducting “essential maintenance” on the tracks that run through Flowery Branch sometime between February 22 and April 22, according to an announcement from city hall.

“This routine maintenance, occurring every 15-20 years, is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of our railway system,” the announcement says. “While we do not have the exact dates and duration yet, Norfolk Southern has assured us that they will provide a 3–4-day notice before the work begins. This heads up will help us plan and prepare for any potential impacts on the three crossings.”

Meanwhile, in Jackson County, CSX has begun upgrading more than 60 crossings between Athens and Talmo.
