Reaction was swift after Forsyth County announced plans for an Urban Deer Management Program aimed at thinning deer herds in developed areas in part to the county with two hunts this fall. And it wasn’t long before social media was buzzing with reaction – and it has been overwhelmingly against the idea so far.
The announcement was made at mid-afternoon Thursday Forsyth Co. begins urban deer management program (wgtjradio.com) and by 7:00 Friday morning more than 60 people had weighed-in on the county’s Facebook page alone:
“I have a better idea why don’t we stop cutting down all the trees, so they have a place to go.”
“This isn’t an overpopulation of deer, they’re just running out of s space.”
“Sooooo how about the over population of people in the south end of the county?”
“Awful!!”
But then there were post such as these:
“This is a great idea…there is an overpopulation of deer.”
“Great program! We are overpopulated with deer.”
“About time!”
