Possible suicide prevented

A Hall County sheriff’s deputy may have helped prevent a young man from killing himself Tuesday night by being in the right place at the right time.

“One of our deputies found a 24-year-old man walking along (Wade Orr Road) who had apparently been sitting on the Wade Orr bridge over I-985,” a sheriff’s office spokeswoman said Wednesday morning. “The man confirmed he had been feeling suicidal and did not want to live.”

She added that after talking with the deputy and ambulance personnel who had been called to the scene, “the young man was taken to the hospital for evaluation.”
