Policeman placed on leave; animal neglect case; congressman under scrutiny

*A Commerce police officer is on administrative leave as the GBI investigates complaints against him. At issue are some of the DUI cases Jacob Wood has made over the years. The complaints against him allege that some of those who were charged may not have been driving under the influence.

*Nearly 40 dogs and cats have been removed from a house in Braselton in a case of animal neglect, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the county’s animal control division. So far, no charges have been filed but authorities say that could change.
