UPDATED: Police chase suspect tries to elude capture by jumping into Lanier

U P D A T E: The state patrol has identified the suspect as 35-year-old Clint Nalley and says the chase ended in the 2400 block of Old Fork Road.

GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“On March 20, 2024, at 4:10pm, Troopers observed the driver of a motorcycle (on Dawsonville Highway west of Gainesville) not wearing a helmet while operating the vehicle on the highway.

Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcycle, but the driver failed to stop, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The driver turned onto a dead-end road, lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The subject fled the crash scene on foot into a wooded area and entered Lake Lanier and began to swim away.

Troopers and a Hall County Sheriff’s Office Deputy boarded a bass boat operated by a civilian, extracted the subject from the water, and the suspect was successfully placed under arrest. Upon investigation of the motorcycle crash, it was discovered the subject possessed a trafficking amount of Methamphetamine and Cocaine.

The subject was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and cleared. The subject was additionally charged with pursuit-related violations.”
