The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) is seeking information on a pickup and driver involved in a hit-and-run that damaged a utility pole and brought down power lines on East Hall Road early today (Friday).
“Deputies learned about the damage from the reporting party, a truck driver, at approximately 4 a.m.,” sheriff’s office spokesman Derreck Booth said. “The truck driver inadvertently ran over the lines in the road, which became entangled under his vehicle. Deputies responded, as did power company personnel, who de-energized the line, allowing the truck driver to safely drive away.”
Deputies determined that the damage happened earlier when another vehicle, possibly fitting the description of the one pictured here, went off the road and hit the pole, causing the lines to fall.
AIU is looking for information on the pickup truck and driver. Anyone with information can contact Investigator Trammell at (470) 846-3930 or [email protected].
The road was closed for several hours because of the incident.
