A petition is circulating in opposition to a 67-home development planned just inside Gwinnett County from the Hall County line.
“Please sign this petition to stop a high density development on the corner of Ridge Rd and Thompson Mill Rd.,” it begins. “This development will make way for more high density developments in our area, increase traffic on our already jammed-packed two lane roads and impact our overpopulated schools.”
The 11.5 acres is currently zoned for “rural, low-density areas, allowing one-family detached dwellings, agricultural activities, and livestock,” the petition says. The applicant is requesting to rezone that corner to R-TH to construct 67 townhomes!! (Update as of 4/22/26…applicant has added single-family detached homes to the application and reduced the number of townhomes).” Adding to already overcrowded schools is also mentioned in the document.
“This development is not smart growth in this area!!”
Nearly 600 people had signed the petition by late afternoon Thursday.
