One killed in small plane crash at Lake Lanier Islands

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE FACEBOOK POST:

“The victim has been identified as Howard Lee Joe, 60, of Dunwoody. Mr. Joe’s relatives have been notified of his death.

ORIGINAL POST: One person is confirmed dead following the crash of a single-engine aircraft inside Lake Lanier Islands Resort this afternoon.

The crash was first reported to Hall County Dispatch at 5:15 p.m. The plane went down in a parking lot on Lanier Islands Parkway near Pine Cone Drive. The male victim was the only person on board the craft. No one on the ground was injured.

The name of the victim is being withheld until relatives can be notified.

Federal investigators are en route to the crash site at this hour.”
