On top of bird flu, now the poultry industry has President Trump’s tariffs to worry about

As if the expanding outbreak of bird flu is not enough, now Georgia’s poultry industry is dealing with potential adverse fallout from the tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China which President Trump announced over the weekend.

Georgia is the top state for production of broilers and the state’s industry is worth almost seven (B) billion dollars, according to the latest information available.

Mexico is the top market for U.S. exports of broilers, and Canada is the second-largest export market based on value, according to the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council.

The fear is retaliatory traffics on the part of those three countries, which the council says, could reduce broiler exports and sales.
