*Three out of every four car seats have been installed incorrectly! With that statistic in mind, there’s no reason not to attend our car seat safety check on Sept. 19 at Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) headquarters on Browns Bridge Road, next to the government center, whether you are a parent, grandparent or caregiver. Certified child passenger safety technicians from SafeKids, HCSO and the Gainesville Police Department on hand to make sure everything checks out with your child’s car seat. Remember to bring your child with you so the technicians can make sure he or she is properly fitted to the seat.
*The Oakwood Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Kroger to support a National Drug Takeback Day Oct. 14, 10:00-2:00, at the Winder Highway location in Flowery Branch. (This is not the new store on Mundy Mill Road near McEver.) DEA says these events provide a “safe, free and anonymous (no questions asked) way” to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications helping to prevent medication misuse, accidental poisonings, and environmental harm. Pills, tablets, other forms of solid meds, as well as liquid. No syringes or illegal drugs. Vape devices okay but batteries must be removed.
