Officially, Hall’s rain-free Oct. continues despite a few sprinkles Sunday

Despite some very light sprinkles in some places in Hall County Sunday, maybe even the airport where it counts as far as the National Weather Service (NWS) is concerned, the county continues to be rain-free for October. That’s 27 days of what is traditionally one of the driest months of the year.

According to NWS data collected at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport Sunday, no rain was recorded.

Atlanta is still rain-free for the month as well, as are a number of other places in Georgia. All of this following an abnormally wet September which saw the remnants of Hurricane Helene drench the state.

As we reported earlier this month, rainfall at Lee Gilmer in September topped ten inches (10.22) i, 6.33 inches above normal. Several other places in the NWS Peachtree City Office service area, all of north and parts of central Georgia, recorded 10+ inches, including Atlanta, Columbus and Peachtree City.

Meanwhile, the prospects of rain for the remaining few days in October are very slim, according to the NWS.
