No charges in Mall of Georgia death

No charges are going to be filed in a pedestrian death outside the Mall of Georgia.

A four-year-old girl was killed and two family members were struck by a truck near Dick’s Sporting Goods in Buford around a month ago.

Georgia News Network reports investigators have determined that the teen driver wasn’t driving recklessly and wasn’t under the influence.

EARLIER STORY. POSTED MARCH 10: A juvenile whose name has not been released was hit by a car and killed in the parking lot at the Mall of Georgia Sunday afternoon. Gwinnett Police say two others were struck and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not released any information on the cause of the accident.

In 2005, he was presented with the Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association’s President’s Award for Excellence in Journalism and in 2019 was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame.

He lives in Gainesville with his wife of 52 years, the former Sandra McKnight of Clio, Alabama, and they have one child, a daughter, Lisa, who lives in Cumming with her family.
