No. 20 Nighthawks Set To Host NCAA Southeast Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 20 University of North Georgia men’s basketball team has been announced as the top seed and host of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Sunday night with all games scheduled to be played at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center. 

The Nighthawks will host seven games over four days at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center during the opening weekend of the tournament. The first round matchups and seeding are listed below.

#1 UNG vs. #8 Wingate
#2 USC Aiken vs. #7 Emmanuel
#3 Lincoln Memorial vs. #6 Lander
#4 Catawba vs. #5 UNC Pembroke

UNG earned the top seed after winning the program’s first ever Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday. This is the first time the Nighthawks men’s basketball program has earned the top seed and will host the Southeast Regional in the NCAA Tournament. 

UNG will face 8th-seed Wingate in its first matchup of the tournament. The Nighthawks have never faced Wingate in program history.

Under Dan Evans, the Nighthawks are 1-1 in the NCAA Tournament after making their first appearance in the tournament under his direction last season.
