Night on the town for four friends, ends in gunfire, arrest of one of them

Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office charged a 21-year-man with reckless conduct after he fired a handgun several times outside his home in South Hall over the weekend after he and three friends returned there.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday…HCSO patrol deputies responded to the residence of suspect Henry Manuel Xal Asig on Burton Circle in Gainesville. A 911 caller reported two men at the residence had assaulted Xal Asig. When deputies arrived, they found the suspect, the caller and the two men at the scene, outside of the residence. All four showed obvious signs of intoxication. Xal Asig had minor injuries (scratches) around his head and face.

HCSO criminal investigators were called to the scene. Their investigation determined all four men, who were friends, had gone to an event in the area, each returning to the Burton Circle residence at different times. Xal Asig was the last to return to the house. When he arrived, he was angry with the other three. He entered his residence and came back outside with a handgun. He fired the handgun multiple times, and two of the men wrestled him to the ground. One of the men grabbed the handgun and tossed it away from Xal Asig’s reach. No one was struck by gunfire.

Deputies recovered the handgun (a 40 caliber Smith & Wesson) and several spent shell casings at the scene.

Emergency medical personnel transported Xal Asig to the hospital for assessment of his injuries. He was released after receiving medical clearance and then transported to the Hall County Jail on three misdemeanor counts of reckless conduct. Xal Asig remains in jail on an immigration hold.”
