Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Lumpkin has been recognized as one of the nation’s top-performing community hospitals in the 2026 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Ranking.
NGMC Lumpkin ranked No. 4 among 24 award-winning hospitals in Vizient’s 220-member small community hospital cohort. Vizient is a national organization that helps hospitals and health systems measure performance, share best practices and improve the quality, safety and efficiency of patient care.
The ranking is part of Vizient’s annual Quality and Accountability Study, which evaluated 1,346 hospitals nationwide. Hospitals were grouped into seven cohorts based on factors such as size and patient population.
The study measures performance across several areas, including patient safety, mortality, effectiveness of care, efficiency, patient-centered care and consistency in treatment. It also helps hospitals compare their performance with peers and identify practices associated with high-quality care and strong patient outcomes.
