Three Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) employees recently received more than $45,000 in grant funding this year to implement projects aimed at improving patient, visitor and employee experiences.
The awards were part of the NGHS Foundation’s Change Grants program, which is funded through donations from more than 3,000 NGHS employees. The program allows staff members to submit proposals for initiatives that enhance care or services across the health system.
Ash Warnock, manager of grants administration for the foundation, said employee giving makes the program possible.
This year’s selected projects included a new role to support the intensive outpatient peer support group at Laurelwood Behavioral Health, submitted by Adam Raulerson; an outdoor sports rehabilitation space for patients in Gainesville, proposed by Paul Turner of NGHS Outpatient Orthopedic Rehabilitation Services; and safe drug‑disposal receptacles at every Northeast Georgia Medical Center hospital, submitted by pharmacy manager Taylor McFarland.
