A man wanted for murder in New York was arrested Thursday in Buford after an exchange of gunfire with officers trying to arrest him and a woman who was with him has been charged with Harboring a Fugitive.
Gwinnett County Police say the pair was arrested following in a multi-agency investigation that also involved the U.S. Marshals Service and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office in the 1900 block of Binnies Way.
During the initial encounter, 35-year-old Kean Wiggins fired at least one shot at responding officers, police said. Officers returned fire and Wiggins was struck at least once and was taken to a hospital.
The woman’s name had not been released at last check.
Wiggins was wanted by authorities in Troy, New York, according to a New York TV station, WRGB.
