White County Public Works Director/Assistant County Manager Derick Canupp has been chosen by the county commission to succeed County Manager Billy Pittard who is scheduled to leave the post in January. In addition, Shanda Murphy, who serves as both County Clerk and Human Resources Director, has been picked to be the next Assistant County Manager.
Pittard is leaving to focus on personal obligations at his family farm in Oglethorpe County.
The county commission, in naming Cannup (pictured) his successor, has scheduled a formal vote on Cannup’s appointment next month.
