New Habersham public works official; state revenues up; GPD investigating $14K+ in thefts

*Jared Beaudoin of Blairsville has been named assistant public works director for Habersham County. Beaudoin currently works as facilities supervisor for Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy, N.C.

*Georgia’s net tax collections in November totaled $2.32 billion, an increase of $33.7 million, or 1.5 percent, compared to last November when they totaled almost $2.29 billion for the month. 

*Seven thefts investigated by Gainesville Police in recent days accounted for losses totaling nearly $15,000. Amounts ranged from $1,030 to $4,200 each and the victims included both individuals and businesses. Included were two cases of shoplifting at a small business on the city’s westside totaling $2,783, one individual who lost $1,500 in a fraud scheme, and two personal property thefts from vehicles that involved losses amounting to a total of $5,230.
