New Elachee Bridge may open next week, but first…

The new Elachee Road Bridge over I-985 may open next week but first get set for another round of lane closures.

“WHAT:
 Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) and contractor E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. have constructed a new bridge over Interstate-985 at the Elachee Preserve. Traffic will be shifted onto the newly constructed bridge and a permanent alignment will shift onto Elachee Drive next week. Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures as needed Monday through Friday 9 a.m.to 2:30 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. on Elachee Drive. 
The former bridge will be disassembled beginning next week. In order for the bridge to be deconstructed, single lane closures and traffic pacing will occur on Interstate-985 in both directions beginning Monday evening, February 12, 2024, from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. The demolition is expected to be completed within a week, weather permitting,         

WHEN: The traffic shift will occur on Monday, February, 12, 2024. Motorists can expect evening lane closures on I-985 NB/SB Monday through Saturday 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

WHERE:  I-985 Northbound Mile Posts: 17.5 to 18.5
I-985 Southbound Mile Posts: 18.5 to 18.0
