New Commerce School Supt.; UNG grad is new West Ga. soccer coach; Milestone for local church

*(CORRECTED TO SHOW THAT KIRK IS PRINCIPAL NOT ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL. WE REGRET THE ERROR). The Principal at Lumpkin County High School the past seven years has been named Superintendent of Commerce City Schools. Billy Kirk will replace Joy Tolbert who plans to retire at the end of the current school year.

*The new head coach of the women’s soccer program at West Geogia College (WGC) is a University of North Georgia (UNG) graduate. Mallory Sayre has served the past two years as an assistant women’s coach at Georgia Southern. She was a goalkeeper when she played at UNG.

*McEver Road United Methodist Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary this spring. The Oakwood church plans to mark the occasion May 19 with a 10:00 worship service and “food and fellowship w/fun for all ages” 12:00-2:00. The church is located at 5226 McEver Road.
