GPD: Alleged burglar arrested; ‘New city’ bill passes Senate

*The Georgia Senate Thursday passed legislation to create the City of Mulberry in northeastern Gwinnett County near the Hall County line. If passed by the House and signed by the Governor, it would place the question of cityhood on the spring primary ballot for residents in the area that would become the proposed city.

*An employee at a Gainesville automobile dealership has been arrested and charged with two counts each of burglary and theft by taking. Gainesville Police say Jermarcus Quinzell Horton (pictured), 36, allegedly stole eight tires from his employer, Shorkey Cadillac. Hall County sheriff’s deputies picked him up at the Henry County Jail Wednesday and returned him to Gainesville.
