New animal control facility, emergency radio agreement with Hall on HCC agenda

The Habersham County Commission (HCC) will conduct a public hearing Monday on plans fora new animal control facility.

The board will ask for comment on “financing of the acquisition, construction and installation of the facility through a tax-exempt installment sale agreement.”

Also on the agenda: consideration and approval of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Hall, Banks, and White counties for Talkgroup Use agreements regarding emergency radio traffic.

County Clerk Brandalin Carnes explained what is meant by Talkgroup Use:

“The term “talkgroup” in context of emergency radio communications is a local grouping of users on a trunked radio system which allows for specific communication channels for different purposes. These MOUs allow for Habersham County emergency responders to be able to be on the same emergency radio channel as these other counties first responders in the event of a joint emergency situation.”
