*Four Columbus men are heading to prison for a multi-million-dollar COVID fraud scheme. A judge sentenced them to more than 25-years combined Wednesday after they all entered guilty pleas to mail fraud earlier this year. All of the men were accused of filing false tax returns using LLCs that didn’t exist. The plot totaled $17 million.
*A Georgia-made school bus is making waves for being “cool.” The Georgia Chamber of Commerce announced at its congressional luncheon yesterday that the Blue Bird Vision Electric school bus is the winner of this year’s Coolest Thing Made in Georgia award. Blue Bird was founded in Fort Valley just under a century ago.
*Georgia’s net tax collections for the first month of Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 totaled $2.57 billion, an increase of 3.1%, compared to July of last year (FY 2026) when net tax collections totaled roughly $2.49 billion.
*The Republican mayors of Valdosta and Tifton are throwing their support behind incumbent Democrat Jon Ossoff in the U.S. Senate. The pair says what he has done for their cities outweighs party loyalty.
