Much colder weather headed our way

The rain is ending, and windy and much colder weather will be taking its place the remainder of the week.

“Temperatures will drop nearly 20 degrees late this afternoon and this evening as a cold front sweeps
across the area,” forecasters with the National Weather Service (NWS) say. “With gusty northwest winds, this will feel significantly colder.”

And after that?

“Much cooler air will settle over the area into the weekend. Overnight lows will drop into the 30s across much of the area, with the potential for frost along with the possibility of freezing temperatures in the north.”

Narrowing that down to Gainesville, the seven-day NWS outlook calls for daytime highs, after today’s of around 70, in the upper 40s and 50s through Saturday with nighttime lows in the mid- to upper-30s starting tonight. And wind gusts of 25-30 mph are expected through Thursday night.
