The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has received a report of exploitation of the elderly, just one day after Flowery Branch Police announced an arrest in a similar case. FBPD: Commerce woman charged with exploitation of elderly, credit card fraud. The HCSO investigation was opened Tuesday, and the incident reportedly occurred in the northwestern part of the county between May 20 and Tuesday. “There’s no other information on the case at this time,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Wednesday morning.
Regarding the extortion case, Williams said “A man filed an online report after he said he sent illicit photos of himself to someone he met online. The person scammed him out of $200 after threatening to share the photos.” The report was taken early Tuesday evening.
The North Hall accident happened on Cleveland Highway Tuesday morning. Williams said a motorist was headed southbound when she “looked away from the road for a moment, A vehicle in front of her stopped to turn left on Gailey Drive and she swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle. She ran off the road and hit an embankment. She was not injured.”
