The City of Gainesville issued 179 building permits in March for work expected to cost $47.2 million.
Of that, 38 permits were for new single-family homes. The price tag for that work: $6.8 million. In all, there were 83 residential permits of all kinds approved for construction valued at $7.4 million.
Another 82 permits were okayed for commercial construction valued at $39.7 million, including four new projects totaling $36.5 million.
